Six ways to spend an hour in the Layton studio

MakWellnessCo LLC runs all of its sessions from 1092 E 3250 N, Layton - 84040-6577, United States (US). Each service below is a small-group format rather than a private appointment, apart from the stretch clinic, and every one of them ends with a cup of tea. Rooms are capped, the pace is slow and no session assumes experience.

Mobility Flow Classes

Mobility flow is the backbone of the morning calendar. A teacher leads the room through a sequence that moves slowly enough to notice where a joint stops, then offers a variation that takes it a little further or a little less far. We work on the floor, at the wall and on blocks, and we repeat the same short loop three or four times across the class so the pattern settles into the body rather than staying in the head.

A typical class begins with a long seated breath, moves into hip circles and shoulder rolls, spends most of its time on a handful of controlled positions and closes with five minutes of stillness on the back. Blocks are used to raise the floor under hands and hips, which makes the class workable for people with tight wrists or limited range. Classes run five mornings a week and are open to drop-ins.

Best for desk workers, walkers, runners and anyone who feels stiff after sitting. Bring a layer, since the final stillness cools quickly.

Breath Work Circles

The breath circle is seated. Eight chairs form a ring around the centre of the room, a teacher explains one pattern at a time and the group practises together for a few minutes before resting. Patterns are simple: a counted inhale, a longer exhale, a pause, a soft hum. Nothing is held to the point of strain, and anyone can return to natural breathing at any moment without explaining why.

We run two circles each week, one early on Tuesday and one in the evening on Thursday. The evening circle is quieter and finishes with ten minutes of dim light and no instruction at all. People come for different reasons: some want to manage stress at work, some want to sleep better and some simply want a quiet room with other people in it. The teacher never asks anyone to share a reason.

Best for anyone who finds seated meditation difficult. The counting gives the mind something gentle to hold.

Herbal Tea Bar Sessions

The tea bar is the social service of the studio. We bring down three or four tins from the shelf, heat water to the temperature written on each label and steep the infusions in front of the group. People taste them side by side, compare the difference between a two minute steep and a five minute one and take home a small card with the ratios for the blends they liked.

Sessions run on Saturday morning and occasionally on a weekday evening. The format is relaxed: there is no lecture, just a short introduction to each herb and plenty of time to sit with a cup. We cover nettle, chamomile, mint, rooibos and lemongrass in the regular rotation, with a seasonal blend added in the colder months. The bowls on the counter are used to cool a hot cup quickly and to hold a pinch of salt for the more bitter infusions.

Best for anyone who wants an easy first visit to the studio. Tea bars are the lowest-pressure way to meet the room.

Recovery Stretch Clinics

The stretch clinic is the one appointment format on the menu. One practitioner works with one person for thirty minutes on the areas that have been complaining, usually hips, hamstrings, calves, shoulders or the low back. We start by asking what a normal day looks like, then choose three or four long holds that fit. Each hold is explained, offered and adjusted until it feels useful rather than sharp.

Clinics are booked in the afternoon, after the morning classes have cleared, and they include a short warm hand soak in the salt bowls during the final rest. We do not use forceful stretching, we do not push through pain and we do not treat injuries. If something looks like it needs a clinician, we will say so and refer rather than continue.

Best for tradespeople, gardeners and anyone whose work leaves one part of the body tight and the rest tired.

S3 meetings

Sleep Routine Coaching

Sleep coaching is a short programme rather than a single class: three meetings of forty minutes, spread across a month, all focused on the hour before bed. In the first meeting we map the current evening, from the last coffee to the moment the light goes out. In the second we adjust one or two things at a time, usually light, temperature, screen timing or the order of the evening routine. In the third we review what held and what slipped.

There are no devices to buy and no rigid schedule to follow. We work with small changes that survive a busy week, and we write each one down so it does not get lost. The coaching is educational and does not replace medical advice for a diagnosed sleep disorder. When someone describes symptoms that need a doctor, we say so clearly in the first meeting.

Best for shift workers, new parents and anyone who has drifted into a later bedtime without deciding to.

RHalf day

Workplace Reset Programs

Workplace reset brings the blend bar to a team. We arrive with mats, blocks, a kettle and the tins, set up in a meeting room or a clear corner of the office and run three breaks across a working day: a morning mobility session, a midday breath circle and an afternoon tea table. Each break is short enough to fit between meetings and long enough to change the pace of the day.

The programme is designed for groups between six and twenty and can be shaped around a shift pattern. We have run it for clinics, small warehouses, design studios and a dental office, and the format adjusts to the room rather than the other way around. Afterwards the team keeps a short written routine they can use without us. Enquiries start through the contact page.

Best for teams that sit for long stretches and want something more useful than a poster about posture.

How a visit is put together

Every service follows the same four steps, whether you are joining a single class or planning a half day for a team. The steps are deliberately plain so that nothing about the studio feels like a mystery.

Write or call

Send a note through the contact page or ring +15137753369. Tell us which session interests you and anything a teacher should know before you arrive.

Choose a place

We confirm the session, the time and the group size, and we hold a place if you are coming from out of town.

Settle in

Arrive ten minutes early. We show you the room, the blocks and the tea shelf, and we answer questions before the session starts.

Steep and leave

After class there is a cup at the bar. Stay as long as you like, then take a short written routine home with you.

Places are limited to eight people per movement session and twelve per tea bar. If you would like to join a morning class or plan a team reset, tell us the week that suits you and we will reply with what is open.
